OUR STORY
About Solera
SINCE 1987
A Family Tradition by the Lake
In the summer of 1987, Marco Ferrara left his hometown in northern Italy with a dream of creating wines that reflected both his heritage and his new home beside Lake Geneva. He found a small vineyard overlooking the water and founded Solera, a place where traditional techniques, patient craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the land came together.
In 2023, after a careful renovation that preserved the estate's character while modernizing its cellar and tasting spaces, Marco's grandson Matteo took the helm. Today, Solera continues the same philosophy that shaped its first vintage: exceptional grapes, minimal intervention, and wines made to be shared.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
What We Believe In
Estate Grown
Our grapes are grown across carefully selected vineyard parcels, each harvested when fruit reaches its ideal balance.
Traditional Craft
Solera's winemaking techniques have evolved across three generations while remaining rooted in patience and restraint.
Seasonal Rhythm
Every vintage follows the vineyard rather than a formula, shaped by the conditions each growing season gives us.
